Sustainability Approach
The Mitsubishi Chemical Group recognizes sustainability a core component of our corporate activities, guided by our Purpose: to lead with innovative solutions to achieve KAITEKI, the well-being of people and the planet. Management of Sustainability (MOS) is one of our key management principles. We pursue sustainable growth by meeting targets for identified material issues under the leadership of our CEO and other members of the management team.
Realizing KAITEKI Through Business: KAITEKI Vision 35
In November 2024, we established KAITEKI Vision 35, which outlines our goals for 2035 and details how we will realize the KAITEKI concept through our business.
To develop this vision, we analyzed future social issues using both forecasting and backcasting. We then identified address these issues from a sustainability perspective and pinpointed areas to enhance our strengths and profitability. Ultimately, we defined five business focus areas and our vision for each.

Promoting Sustainability to Achieve Our Vision
We view sustainability as integral to our five business focus areas and will advance initiatives in carbon neutrality, sustainable products and services, human capital development, and corporate governance.

Material Issues and Our Approach to Identifying Them
When identifying material issues and measures to achieve our Vision, we considered sustainability from both risk and opportunity perspectives.
Traditionally, sustainability focused on managing environmental and social risks, improving performance, and ensuring transparency. Today, contribution to social and environmental issues through the products and services is essential factor determining our growth. We aim to make sustainability for a driver of growth by offering solutions that enhance sustainability across supply chains and meeting customer needs.
Overview of Sustainability Actions

The Group will advance the following measures to address the identified material issues.
Step 1: Strengthen Our Initiatives
We will reduce the environmental and social impacts of our products throughout their life cycle. Our efforts include lowering GHG emissions through fuel and raw material conversion, using recycled or biomass materials, strengthening sustainable procurement, and applying Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). We are committed to reducing impacts across the value chain and ensuring transparent information disclosure.
Step 2: Contributing to Growth Areas with Sustainability
Our materials and solutions meet market sustainability needs, including longer product life, lighter weight, re-use and recycling-conscious design, supporting broader societal sustainability.
