Research and Development System
Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation
The Innovation organization plays a central role in creating next-generation businesses through the development of innovative technologies and products, while also contributing to earnings growth in existing businesses through the continuous enhancement of technologies and products. To fulfill this role, we advance R&D with a focus on company-wide optimization.
In April 2026, the R&D organizations were integrated under the CTO and reorganized into a matrix structure to strengthen collaboration with business groups. This structure enables us to support business group strategies and address technical challenges as one innovation team.
From Research to Commercialization
Guided by customer needs and societal challenges, we pursue continuous value creation by developing new products, advancing existing products, providing technical services, and creating new businesses.
To this end, we maximize the value of the core technologies we have cultivated over the years and deploy them widely, while actively incorporating external knowledge and technologies through market and technology research, open innovation, and CVC activities to accelerate innovation. We also strategically translate the technological achievements generated through these efforts into intellectual property and leverage it effectively to enhance corporate value.
