Delivering Value Across Our Business Domains
In November 2024, the Mitsubishi Chemical Group formulated KAITEKI Vision 35. Grounded in our Purpose and harnessing our strengths to address key social issues, we identified five business focus areas: stable supply platform for green chemicals, eco-conscious mobility, advanced data processing and telecommunications, food quality preservation, and technology and equipment for new therapeutics.
In the area of green chemicals, we aim to contribute to the transformation of the chemical industry globally. In addition to advancing the energy transition and improving energy efficiency to reduce our carbon footprint, we are accelerating the transformation of our raw material base. This includes increasing the use of recycled, bio-based, and carbon capture and utilization (CCU)-derived feedstocks, where technically and economically feasible, supported by the start-up of our chemical recycling plant at the Ibaraki site and continued innovation efforts. Beyond our own operations, we leverage the functionality of our materials and products to support our customers' sustainability ambitions. Through capabilities such as thermal management, barrier performance, lightweight design, processability, and, where appropriate, solutions designed to support circularity within established collection and recycling systems, we help improve energy and resource efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and minimize environmental impacts across value chains.
To maximize the value we provide to society, we must objectively assess our activities with relevant data of our products and processes, make timely decisions based on this data, continuously review our activities, and communicate them externally. To that end, we will efficiently monitor data and promote the disclosure of information, with the legal requirements such as CSRD and SSBJ standards. We will also strengthen the foundation for measuring and using life cycle assessment (LCA) data, including product environmental footprints, and further advance data management.

To tackle environmental and social challenges through our business activities, it is imperative that we collaborate not only within the Group but also with a wide range of stakeholders as part of a society-wide effort. Together with partners across the entire supply chain, from upstream to downstream, we will work to develop markets where solutions to social and environmental challenges are appropriately valued, through the formulation of supportive policy, visualizing data such as LCA, and internalizing externalities.
