Discontinuance of Production and Sales of Some Grades of Epoxy Resins at the Tokai Plant Kawajiri Site
May 27, 2026
Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Manabu Chikumoto; hereinafter “MCC”) hereby announces its determination to discontinue production and sales of some grades of epoxy resins at the Tokai Plant Kawajiri site (located in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture) around the end of September 2027.
1. Grades in question
(1) Bisphenol A liquid epoxy resin (*)
(2) Bisphenol F liquid epoxy resin
(3) Liquid/solid epoxy resins manufactured by using (1), (2) and a number of curing agents
MCC’s epoxy resins are used for a wide range of applications, such as paints and adhesives, but for the products in the grades as mentioned above, MCC has deemed it difficult to continue their production due to the aging of production equipment and a dire business environment.
MCC has been pushing ahead with business portfolio reform based on Medium-Term Management Plan 2029. Also, its management vision, “KAITEKI Vision 35,” includes “Enable advanced data processing and telecommunications” in the vision across five business focus areas. Going forward, MCC will continue to contribute to the supply chains of materials that support the advancement of semiconductors through the provision of special epoxy resin for use as semiconductor encapsulants and electronic materials.
