Transfer of Electrolyte Manufacturing Assets in the United States and the United Kingdom

Subsidiaries of Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Manabu Chikumoto; hereinafter “the Company”) have reached an agreement with Green E Origin SARL (“GEO”) to transfer the lithium-ion battery electrolyte manufacturing assets operated by Mitsubishi Chemical America, Inc., the Company's U.S. subsidiary, and Mitsubishi Chemical UK Ltd., the Company's UK subsidiary, to GEO, and have signed definitive agreements in connection with the transactions.
 
  1. Purpose and Background
Our Group's lithium-ion battery electrolyte utilizes proprietary additive technology to suppress side reactions at the electrodes, delivering high power output. Our electrolyte’s outstanding durability and high safety have led to numerous adoptions in automotive applications, and we have also licensed these technologies to battery manufacturers.
 
We have established a strong manufacturing presence in Japan, China, the United States, and the United Kingdom (Europe) to support our xEV customers. To transform to an upgraded business model in the European and American markets, and respond to mid to long-term growth of market, we have decided to transfer our manufacturing bases in the United States and the United Kingdom to GEO. We will continue to focus on advancing our business development through strategic collaboration and strengthening of our manufacturing and sales network.
