Withdrawal from the Business Operations of a Consolidated Subsidiary, Tosen

Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Manabu Chikumoto; hereinafter “MCC”) has decided to withdraw from all business operations of its consolidated subsidiary, Tosen Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Izumi City, Osaka; President: Takao Kawasaki; hereinafter “Tosen”).
1．Background to the decision
Tosen provides fiber-related materials and services, with a focus on the dyeing of synthetic and natural fibers, particularly wig dyeing.
In response to declining demand for fiber dyeing, which is Tosen’s core business, it has been working to adjust its business portfolio and reduce fixed costs. However, its business environment continues to become increasingly challenging. While Mitsubishi Chemical Group is in the process of implementing portfolio restructuring based on its “New Medium-Term Management Plan 2029”, MCC judged that it will be difficult to secure stable profits from Tosen's businesses over the medium to long term as a result of a careful study of its business sustainability, and therefore, has decided to withdraw from all of Tosen’s business operations.
